Jewel of the Great Rift Valley

Mikumi National Park

Located in southern Tanzania and covering an area of over 3,230 square kilometers, Mikumi National Park is one of the most accessible and wildlife-rich parks in the country. Often dubbed the “mini-Serengeti”, Mikumi features expansive grasslands, stunning baobab trees, and an impressive diversity of wildlife.

Bordering the vast Selous Game Reserve (now Nyerere National Park), Mikumi is part of the larger Selous ecosystem, allowing animals to move freely across the region. Its proximity to Dar es Salaam makes it a perfect short or weekend safari destination, especially for those looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience without the crowds.
